Multidisciplinary and multicultural STEM conference to be held in Hawaii in October

An edited announcement from the University of Hawaii:

The Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) is sponsoring the 2019 SACNAS-The National Diversity in STEM conference, which is scheduled from October 31–November 2, 2019, at the Hawaii Convention Center.

In June, the University of Hawaii signed on as the presenting sponsor of the country’s largest multidisciplinary and multicultural STEM diversity event, to support the convening of an estimated 4,000 STEM professionals, scientists, engineers and college students in Hawaii.

When UH’s sponsorship was announced in June, UH President David Lassner said, “With the most diverse campuses in the nation, the University of Hawaii is perfectly aligned with the mission and goals of SACNAS. This is also an amazing opportunity to showcase the work of our faculty bringing together Hawaii’s traditional indigenous knowledge and practice with modern science to better understand and address the challenges and opportunities we all face.”
