# Government Role In Humane Startups

I’ve been a startup founder and I also worked in government. So I wrote an article on [Medium](https://medium.com/@violetgem/how-the-midwest-can-compete-with-coastal-unicorns-cb05a14d5e74?source=friends_link&sk=7a66cdf524abb72d60412e384a2fa03c) about how the midwest could compete with coastal unicorns, but it’s really a rallying call and a guide for regional governments to support sane startup ecosystems. I put a lot of policy recommendations in here. I’m curious if people have other recommendations for government agencies on how to support humane startups?
